Do I really own the domain I register through Squish?+
Yes. You are the registrant, the legal owner, on every domain. We're listed as the technical/billing contact so we can manage records on your behalf, but the registrant is always you. Transfer out anytime, no fees.
What is WHOIS privacy and do I need it?+
WHOIS privacy hides your name, email, address, and phone number from public domain registration lookups. Without it, anyone can pull up your registration info, which becomes spam fuel within hours. We include WHOIS privacy on every domain at no extra cost, with no opt-out tricks.
Can I transfer my domains from GoDaddy, Namecheap, or another registrar?+
Yes. You'll need the authorization code (sometimes called EPP code or auth code) from your current registrar. They're required to give it to you within five days. Each transfer-in includes the ICANN-required one-year extension, billed at cost. We don't mark up transfers.
Will my website or email go down when I transfer?+
No. Transferring only moves your domain's registration to Squish. It doesn't change your DNS. Your nameservers, website, and email keep pointing exactly where they do now, with zero downtime. Once you're here, you can manage your DNS from your Squish dashboard whenever you like.
Do you sell premium or aftermarket domains?+
We help you find them but don't run a separate marketplace. If a name you want is for sale on an aftermarket (Sedo, GoDaddy Auctions, etc.), we'll search those for you and broker the purchase. You pay the listed aftermarket price; we don't mark it up.
What happens if I forget to renew a domain?+
You don't have to remember: auto-renew is on by default. We email you ahead of the renewal, then charge your card on file inside the last 30 days before expiry, so there's no gap where the domain is at risk. You can switch auto-renew off per domain from your dashboard. If a domain does lapse, most TLDs allow roughly 30 days of grace to renew at the normal price; after that, registry-imposed redemption fees apply (set by the registry, not us, usually around $80–$100).
